In celebration of International Women’s Day, we’ve put together a powerhouse roster of Bay Area female food and wine talent. This month’s Farm Dinner features five rockstar woman winemakers, including our very own Sally Kim who will be debuting her KPOP Rosé!

“Sam is another natural talent. She switched careers from international tax consulting to wine a decade ago and has been an innovative trendsetter in the wine world ever since. Sam was the first in California to make Nouveau, which has since become a cult category. She was also one of the first in the state to make 100% Pinot Meuiner. We’re so proud and excited to have our very own Sally Kim sharing the first bottles from her new label, KPOP. We’ll be pouring her KPOP Rosé of Barbera “Martinson Ranch” from Mendocino’s Redwood Valley.

Melissa Reitz | Locanda Osteria + Bar

Melissa Reitz is the Chef di Cuisine at Pizzeria Delfina’s sister restaurant in San Francisco, Locanda Osteria She creates a Roman-inspired menu with a heavy focus on California’s seasonal produce. Check out Locanda’s menu here.

Elisha Smiley | DRG Pastry Chef

Elisha Smiley is the resident Pastry Chef for all of DRG - Delfina, Locanda, and the five Pizzeria Delfina locations. She brings a fresh, creative spark to the dessert menus. Check out Delfina’s menu here.

Anne Stoll | DRG Co-Founder

Anne Stoll co-founded Delfina Restaurant Group with her husband, Craig, over 20 years ago. They started with a small space for Delfina Restaurant in San Francisco’s Mission District and have since grown the company to seven restaurants around the Bay Area.

Why Pojer e Sandri?
I recently discovered Pojer e Sandri through an importer and old friend. The winery is located in Faedo in the Valle di Cembra in Trento. It started with two friends, Fiorentino Sandri and Marco Pojer on just two hectares. Today, Federico Sandri is the winemaker and they have a wide range of wines, grappa, eau-de-vie, and vinegars.
The wines are expressive of their terroir, delicious, and approachable.
I visited the winery early this year. Seeing all the vineyards and how much labor and meticulous attention to detail goes into the work in the vineyards and the cellar, I appreciated the wines so much more. These wines are truly an expression of the families’ vision, devotion to their land, and passion.

Why Scribe?
"I love the story of Scribe because it’s a family business. Andrew Mariani and his younger brother Adam founded the winery in 2007. Their sister Kelly is the resident chef at the Hacienda.
They are all 4th generation farmers who’ve carved their own path into wine, practicing eco-friendly and sustainable farming.
I’ve watched and tasted the wines evolve over the last four years; I love what they’re doing. The wines are super quaffable, varietally correct, and fun! They experiment with some of my favorite varieties like Sylvaner and Riesling.
They’re also kind, generous, and hospitable people. We’ve become good friends since our “Delfina in Movimento” pop-up back in January when I discovered our philosophies align a lot; so much so that Andrew and I collaborated on a wine for Delfina. Why G.D. Vajra?
“G.D. Vajra is less than 50 years old - very young by Barolo standards. At 15 years old, Aldo Vajra was sent away to the country to spend the summer with his grandparents, far away from trouble and 1960’s street protests of Torino. This time spent in the vineyards inspired his love and vision for his own family-run winery.
I was determined to visit them and in October 2016 I did with Aldo’s daughter, Francesca. It was pouring rain and a great season for truffles. I was impressed at how harmonious yet structured the wines were and the range for such a young producer and am impressed with each vintage.
The wine that really seduced me was the “JC Claret” Langhe Nebbiolo, made according to a 1606 note from the House of Savoia jeweler Gian Battista Croce. This wine is a time-capsule into an era when Nebbiolo was light, pale ruby in color, and slightly effervescent. I also absolutely love their Barolo Chinato.
